When it comes to bass there is no one more respected than Nathan East!
We were excited to release our first Nathan East signature product, the DB-EAST in 2025. Nathan is a busy bass player – continuously in demand! So, for Nathan to have a compact portable solution to get his ‘BIG RIG’ sound but in a small, portable package is amazing.
Introducing the DB-EAST-PRE, ours and Nathan’s first signature bass pre-amplifier.
Everything You Expect
The DB-EAST-PRE is our latest member of the Laney DIGBETH Bass amplifier series.
Our Black Country Customs team has evolved and refined the sound expanding on the beloved FET and TUBE channels, adding more articulation and control.
Gain Type & Range
The DB-EAST-PRE enhanced tube channel now features selectable gain characteristics, giving the player 3 different gain options to choose from:
- (I) Mild gain with light asymmetric clipping.
- (II) More asymmetrical clipping available.
- (III) More aggressive distortion generating more pronounced odd harmonics, giving a more aggressive modern sound.
The RANGE control works in conjunction with the GAIN setting and allows you to dial in the level of low-end signal pre distortion, which determines how punchy or extended the low-end response is.
Powerful EQ
The DB-EAST-PRE features a powerful EQ section with selectable mid PRE-SHAPES, and the mighty TILT function allows you to dial in the exact tone you are looking for at any volume.
Master Volume
Quickly control the main output level precisely with the Master Volume control whilst the D.I and FX Loop is not affected.
Dual Inputs
The DB-EAST-PRE features dual inputs allowing you to connect multiple basses to the unit and switch between them via the input selector switch. Input 2 has an individual trim control which allows you to balance the inputs of different basses plugged into the DB-EAST-PRE as required.
LA·IR
The DB-EAST-PRE features LA·IR equipped DI output, which comes pre-loaded with Nathan’s favourite IRs of his personally chosen cabinets.
LA·IR (Laney Advanced Impulse Response technology) means you can add exactly the right cabinet IR and EQ to get the perfect bass sound every time. With our free LA·IR application you can configure the perfect sound you want.
FX Loop
The DB-EAST-PRE features an ultra-transparent FX loop and is capable of handling everything from vintage pedals to high end rack mount units.
USB Type C
The DB-EAST-PRE features a USB type C socket for connecting to the LA·IR app, but it also supports audio in/out POST IR, so you can use it directly into your favourite DAW, making it super convenient for recording silently.
The DB-EAST-PRE has become Nathan’s go-to studio tool. It’s got all the tone and versatility of his signature head but in a compact, portable form factor.

Returns Policy
You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
Shipping
We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.
